Mary Magdalan has been through a lot in her short career, but she's definitely not looking to start a rap beef, especially when its with hip hop beef master 50 Cent. "One of the main reasons I even rap is due to 50 Cent" says Mary. So when Mary was knocked off the throne of buzzing mixtapes by the release of 50's release "The Lost Tape" the last thing Magdalan thought of was beef. "It is such an honor to be dethroned by someone who I admire and respect, so for me even the loss is a big victory for me, but I'm not sure it would be the same if the tables were turned" says Magdalan.
Mary just dropped her first street release in over two years, "La Femme Machine Slayer" mixtape, currently available for free download exclusively on Dat Piff, to rave response. "This mixtape brings me back to roots. I grew up on mixtapes especially when 50 first came out. His mixtapes made me wanna be a rapper, plus I really identified with him cuz when I was a kid I was dealing with the loss of my mother at a young age, and I knew that 50 had shared that same fate" states Mary. 'La Femme Machine Slayer' also features her collaboration with DJ Gzus aka DJ Ray of the Game "You Know What It Is" mixtape fame. "Mary is a very real person and a true MC and she breaks the mold of how Hip Hop and EDM are listened to"" says Gzus of his new protoge. "These days people aren't as genre specific as they were a few years a go. Peeps bang Wiz just as much as they bang Nero or Bring Me The Horizon.....Mary embodies all of that."
The mixtape is a slick balance of Hip Hop, Dubstep, and Electro Punk featuring some of the hottest names in Rap and EDM including Lil Wayne, Bassnectar, Tyga, & Skrillex. None can be witnessed more clearly than in the lead-off collab from Mary and Brooklyn bad boy and current Diplo signee Baauer, "Coke in my Nose remix". Watch the video below.
