Wiz Khalifa is not showing himself any love this Valentine’s Day. After attending the 54th Annual Grammys Sunday night (February 12), Wiz took to Tumblr today (February 14) to negatively criticize his debut album, Rolling Papers.

‘The mistake I made on Rolling Papers was thinking it was time to move on from that genre, not knowing that it had impacted people so much,” said Wiz in an open letter to his fans. “The album did great numbers, but creatively wasn’t my best work.”

The 2010 XXL Freshman was not lying about the numbers. The LP pushed out 198,200 copies its first week and debuted at No. 2 on Billboard Top 200 album charts. To boot, the album’s lead single “Black and Yellow” topped Billboard’s Hot 100 and was Grammy nominated for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song, although he came up empty in both.

Losing out on those awards prompted him to tweet, “I Shld Just Smoke & Get Kicked Out” live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Although the Pittsburgh MC was hard on himself in the open letter, he did say that it’s all a learning experience, one that will only make him better.

“No regrets though,” said the Taylor Gang head honcho. “We live and we learn. So for my fans sake and own personal enjoyment, Ive gone further into the world we’ve created and elaborated on our genre with the mixtape, Taylor Allderdice and of course my sophomore album, ONIFC.”
