Before the arrival of his sophomore set on August 28, Wiz gives MTV a first class seat with sneak peak of the album. Below he explains what we can expect lyrically.

“I get pretty personal on there, it’s like a reflection of me and where I’m at right now. I feel like I did that the best way without getting too preachy or going too deep to the point where I lost anybody. I kept it all in the same playing field so it makes sense. I said, ‘I’m put here to take care of the family, but how was I supposed to know/ If I don’t take care of myself huh, then how am I supposed to grow.’ It’s simple, but it means a lot, and anybody who works their ass off will understand and be like, ‘Man, the dude is talkin’ some sh–.”

Rihanna and Drake have a lot to celebrate. The superstars lead the nominations for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, it was announced today.

The frequent collaborators earn five nominations including Video of the Year at this year’s show. Rihanna’s “We Found Love” will compete against Drake’s “Take Care,” for which she is a featured guest (MTV only gives the nomination to the lead artist in the category).

The pop princess’ Melina-directed video for “We Found Love” will also vie for Best Female Video and Best Pop Video, while the dance-heavy “Where Have You Been” scores Best Choreography and Best Visual Effects nods.

Drake’s wild Bar Mitzvah re-enactment in the video for “HYFR” garners him a nomination for Best Hip-Hop Video, while the Rihanna-assisted “Take Care” picks up Best Male Video, Best Art Direction, and Best Cinematography.

RiRi’s pal Katy Perry finishes with four nods, while Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, M.I.A., The Throne, and Coldplay trail with three nominations apiece.

The 2012 MTV VMAs will air live on September 6 at 8 p.m. EST from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, with performances from Alicia Keys and One Direction.

While speaking on his record “Daughters” on Philly’s Power 99, Nas touches on parenthood and how he would approach the record if it was his son.

The Harajuku Barbie showed love to H-town when her “Pink Friday” tour touched down on Saturday. The queen of the Barbz brought out some local legends during her concert at the Bayou Music Center. Slim Thug and Paul Wall performed “Still Tippin’,” while Bun B had everyone singing along to “Big Pimpin’.” Backstage, the UGK member introduced Nicki to one of the youngest Barbz, his granddaughter Taylor.

She thanked her guests for sharing the stage with her. “Biiiiig S/O to @BunBTrillOG @slimthugga and @PaulWallBaby for blessing the #pinkfridaytour tonite!!!!!!! Truly honored!” tweeted Nicki.

During her show in Atlanta earlier this month, the “Starships” rapper was joined by T.I., Young Jeezy, and Monica, while the Miami Barbz were treated to performances by Lil Wayne and DJ Khaled.

Rihanna’s adventures at sea continue. The Bajan beauty sailed into Portofino, Italy, on her private yacht over the weekend. The paparazzi snapped her flaunting her hot body in a metallic cheetah-print bikini before jumping in the water for some snorkeling. She joked around with her girlfriends, spraying them with the hose. The fun continued on board as she popped Ace of Spades champagne and smoked while steering the boat. Aye aye, captain RiRi!

Nas returns to his glory days on his 10th album Life Is Good. Due July 17, the 18-track deluxe edition features appearances from Mary J. Blige, Rick Ross, Large Professor, Miguel, Anthony Hamilton, and the late Amy Winehouse, with production by Salaam Remi, No I.D., Swizz Beatz, Rodney Jerkins, Da Internz, Noah “40” Shebib, and more.

“My mindset was to pull out a side of me that people haven’t heard in a while and give ‘em that feeling that they haven’t felt in a while—a feeling that I love,” Nas told Rap-Up.com. “And some of that feeling is ’90s-esque, some of that feeling is 2015. It’s just a feeling that I feel to be a timeless sound.”

It was a big night for Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Chris Brown. Each of the superstars went home with two awards at Sunday’s BET Awards ’12. Beyoncé picked up Best Female R&B Artist, dedicating her award to Whitney Houston, and Video Director of the Year for “Party,” which she shared with Solange’s boyfriend Alan Ferguson.

Jay-Z and Kanye aka The Throne won Best Group and the coveted Video of the Year for “Otis.” Jay competed against his wife in the category, making for some friendly competition. “It’s gonna be an argument at the crib,” joked Jamie Foxx as he presented the winner.

In addition to his performance duties, Chris Brown scored Best Male R&B Artist and the AOL Fandemonium Award, dedicating his awards to Team Breezy.

See a full list of winners below.

Ca$h Out and Tyga had money on their mind while closing out the BET Awards with two of the year’s biggest rap singles. The Atlanta rapper bypassed the pre-show and went straight to the main stage, performing his flashy hit “Cashin’ Out.” Tyga emerged from below the stage with his ubiquitous single “Rack City,” as Jamie Foxx and his Young Money labelmate Nicki Minaj sang along.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z faced off in the coveted Video of the Year category at the BET Awards ’12, but it was Jay-Z who ended up taking home the award for The Throne’s “Otis.”

“It’s gon’ be an argument at the crib trying to see who’s the hottest in the household, baby,” joked Jamie Foxx as he presented the award. The Carters pretended to duke it out in the front row before the winner was announced.

Jay-Z had a little fun with his partner-in-rhyme Kanye West when he walked onstage to accept the award. “I want to thank BET for…” said Kanye before Jay cut him off. “Excuse me Kanye, I’ma let you continue, but…” he said, referencing the time ‘Ye interrupted Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs. Everyone had a good laugh about it including Beyoncé and Nicki Minaj.

Relive the hilarious moment below.

The legendary Whitney Houston was remembered with a star-studded tribute at the BET Awards on Sunday. Mariah Carey fought back tears as she spoke about her friend and fellow diva. “The first time I heard Whitney Houston’s voice I was mesmerized like the rest of the world,” said Mariah.

One of the singers Whitney inspired most, Monica, brought down the house with the gospel hymn “I Love the Lord.” Her collaborator Brandy put her best foot forward with “I’m Your Baby Tonight” and “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” Whitney’s brother Gary Houston was up next, singing “Where You Are” before making way for Whitney’s mother Cissy.

There was not a dry eye in the house as the 78-year-old matriarch performed “Bridge over Troubled Water.” “This is for you, Nip,” said Mrs. Houston.

Whitney’s Waiting to Exhale castmates Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, and Lela Rochon recalled memories of working with the singer-actress and Chaka Khan had everyone on their feet as she closed with “I’m Every Woman.”

Fresh off his win for Best Male R&B Artist, Chris Brown lit up the stage at the BET Awards 2012. With half his body painted, a shirtless Breezy performed “Don’t Wake Me Up” as laser beams shot across the stage. He kept the party going with “Turn Up the Music.” See him bring down the house.

Rick Ross and his Maybach Music Group stormed the stage with a medley of their hits at Sunday’s BET Awards. Wale emerged from a Maybach to perform “Bag of Money,” Rozay and Meek Mill teamed up on “So Sophisticated,” and the all-stars closed with some “Black Magic.” Poof!

Melanie Fiona shined with a brilliant performance at the BET Awards 2012. The Canadian songstress, who was nominated for Best Female R&B Artist, powered through her soulful tune “Wrong Side of a Love Song” at Sunday’s show.

Her Minajesty, Nicki Minaj, graced the stage at the BET Awards 2012 to perform “Champion” and “Beez in the Trap” with her “Pink Friday” tourmate 2 Chainz. Check out her fiery performance below.

Usher took it to the “Climax” with his performance during the BET Awards 2012 on Sunday. Mr. Raymond had the ladies swooning with his falsetto and smooth moves. Watch his scintillating set below.

G.O.O.D. Music swerved through the building as Kanye West and his crew kicked off the BET Awards 2012 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Dressed in all white, each member took turns hitting the stage with their verses on “Mercy.” Big Sean was up first, followed by Pusha T, and then 2 Chainz. The sensor was working overtime when Yeezy emerged from a white Lamborghini to perform “Cold” and his new song “New God Flow.”

He and Jay-Z went on to win Best Group. “Shout out to Maybach Music and Young Money for making this a real good competition for all the fans out here,” said ‘Ye while accepting the award for Best Group.
